About Us
Les Gardiens du Ruban - Pink Heals Canada (PHC) is a registered non-profit organization made up of Firefighters dressed in Pink, and driving Pink Fire Trucks. Why… Well that’s pretty simple really. Pink is considered to be the color of women, and women and children are in the forefront of this movement. We are here to raise Awareness, funds, and provide support placing it where it needs to go: to the women and children struggling to fight this dreaded disease know as Cancer. All Cancers!!
What better way to draw attention than to drive around in a Pink Fire Truck, and wear Pink Fire Gear! Firefighters draw easy attention in a Red truck; just imagine seeing a string of Pink Trucks rolling down the road! You would notice it wouldn’t you!?
We were born of the movement started in the U.S. by a Firefighter named Dave Graybill of Phoenix Arizona in 2007. In the last four years, the organization has grown immensely throughout the US. As of August of 2010, beginning in Quebec, Nathalie Michaud and John Power founded the organization in Canada. The first Pink Truck in Canada was donated by the Municipality of Lacolle, Qc in honor of Judith Letarte. The pink fire truck was baptized Colette, in August of 2011, in honor of Colette Cusson.
The first Canadian Pink Tour was held this September 10th, where Dave and several of the guys from the U.S. joined us here in Saint-Michel, Quebec. The movement is officially International, and we could not be more proud.
We also have Volunteers that are not Firefighters! They play a huge role as well, and just because you may not be a Firefighter, don’t think that you cannot be important or make a difference. There is nothing further from the truth! We have wives, husbands, and children of Firefighters that are involved. We also have supporters from the profesional sector. These folks donate materials, time, and or money in order to help the families in need. Some work as experts in their field, and offer that expertise as consultants to families.
We are literally growing by the day! One person, one Chapter at a time.
